Bennington & Shaftsbury Area
The Bennington and Shaftsbury Area includes the towns of Bennington, Pownal, Shaftsbury and Woodford.
Located in the southwestern corner of the county, Bennington is the most populous town in southern Vermont with approximately 16,000 residents! There are three historic districts within the town today: Old Bennington, Downtown Bennington and North Bennington.
Of these, Old Bennington is the original settlement, dating back to 1761 followed by Downtown Bennington in the early 1800’s thanks to ready access of natural resources, waterpower and manufacturing.
The Arlington area comprises the towns of Arlington, Sandgate and Sunderland.
Arlington is full of rich history. Prior to the American Revolution, several members of the Green Mountain Boys lived in Arlington, including Thomas Chittenden, Seth Warner, Samuel Adams and Remember Baker and its not uncommon to still see homes built in the late 1700’s and early 1800’s occupied by full time Arlingtonian’s who are proud to be keepers of such history.
Manchester & Dorset Area
Manchester is abundant in history, outdoor recreation, shopping and restaurants. Conveniently located to Bromley Mountain and Stratton Mountain, you are guaranteed a good time and will never have a shortage of things to do.
However in the off-ski months, be sure to visit Lye Brook Falls, Equinox Pond, the Dorset Quarry, local farmers markets and of course, the Dorset Horse Show.
Mettowee Valley Area Homes
Pawlet, Rupert, Wells and their satellite hamlets is what we fondly refer to as the Mettowee Valley.
Most of the tourism happens about 15 miles southeast towards Manchester This is first and foremost a farming community, but sprinkle in a few tourists, some bicyclists and you have one of the most alluring places in Vermont.
The soil here is sweet and perfect for farming thanks to the underlying marble and limestone from the Taconic Mountain Range.
Ski & Mountain Towns
Whether its following a day of skiing or snowboarding, nobody can resist the charm of a Vermont ski village.
Welcome to points north of Manchester! Stratton Mountain, Bromley Mountain and Magic, aka The Golden Triangle offer plenty to do in all seasons.
Mountain Bike down Stratton, enjoy alpine slides at Bromley or hike on Magic…you’ll be sure to enjoy a cozy fire along with your favorite beverage in your choices of single family homes or slope side condos.
